Brief Biographical Sketch:
Hi, I am a junior planning to major in statistical sciences with a concentration in computer science and machine learning. I love statistics because of its versatility and real world application. I like coding because it makes life more efficient and you are able to do more. Hopefully, you will see its usefulness when I introduce you to the pandas and plotly packages, which are easy ways to analyze and visualize data. I hope what I teach you will be useful in the future and in other aspects of your life. Past Classes(Clicking a class title will bring you to the course's section of the corresponding course catalog)M785: Intro to Data Science with Python and Pandas in Splash Fall 2022 (Nov. 12, 2022)
This class will be an introduction to pandas, a python package used to manipulate spreadsheets, compute calculations, and make graphs of data. We may also use plotly express, an easy tool to make interactive graphs. We will be working on Google Colab Notebooks, so you will not need to install anything before coming to class. No coding experience is necessary.
At the beginning of the class, I’ll ask each person to complete a simple google forms with questions like: What is your favorite tv show? What is your shoe size? How many siblings do you have? etc. And then I would like to show you how you can analyze the class data using python.
