Interested in sustainability? Concerned about food waste? Join the vermicomposting workshop, where you can learn how to use worms to turn food scraps into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. We will discuss the benefits and tradeoffs of vermicomposting, such as fast decomposition of organic material, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and accessibility. Students will learn how to properly maintain a vermicomposting system to ensure optimal worm activity and compost production. The class will include both a demonstration of how to set up and maintain a worm bin, and an interactive planting activity using vermicompost.
